Your AI Connector Docs

Telegram (Beta)

Connect your existing Telegram account to the platform so your Telegram conversations flow directly into the app and an AI Agent can reply. You connect by entering your phone number and a login code — the same way you’d add Telegram on a new device.

Beta. Telegram is now available to everyone, but it’s still new — expect the occasional rough edge while we refine it. If something doesn’t work as described, let support know.

What Is the Telegram Integration?

The Telegram integration links your personal Telegram account to the platform using Telegram’s own login flow. There’s no bot to create and no separate phone number to buy — you log in with the Telegram account you already use, and your 1-to-1 chats become available inside the app.

This is ideal for businesses that already talk to customers on Telegram and want an AI Agent, Broadcasts, and a shared inbox on top of their existing account.

Important — read before connecting. This is an unofficial integration that automates a personal Telegram account. Telegram’s rules discourage automation and bulk or unsolicited messaging, and accounts that break those rules can be restricted or permanently banned (in some cases the phone number itself can be blocked from re-registering). Only use this channel to message people who have already contacted you or are saved contacts, keep volumes low, and let the AI reply at a natural pace. Do not use it for cold mass outreach.

Telegram vs. WhatsApp Web

Both connect an account you already own, without an official Business API.

Same number on both? Yes. If the same phone number is on both Telegram and WhatsApp (Web), you can connect it as both channels — they run as two separate connections on the Channels page, each with its own status, warm-up, and limits. Connecting one does not affect or replace the other.

Setting Up Telegram

Step 1: Open the Connect Flow

  1. In the left sidebar, click Settings near the bottom.
  2. In the Settings left rail, under Channels, click Channels.
  3. Find the Telegram card — it carries a Beta notice — and click Connect.

Step 2: Enter Your Phone Number

  1. Type the phone number of the Telegram account you want to connect, including the country code (for example 555 123 4567).
  2. Toggle on Import existing chats if you want to bring your recent one-to-one Telegram conversations in as contacts, so you don’t start from an empty inbox. (Turning this on also lets you control Keep AI paused for imported chats — recommended, and on by default, so importing your history never triggers automatic replies to old messages. Switch it off per contact later once you’re ready.)
  3. Click Send Login Code.
  4. Telegram sends a login code to your Telegram app (it usually arrives as a message from the official “Telegram” service chat, not always as an SMS).

Step 3: Enter the Login Code

  1. Open Telegram on your phone.
  2. Read the login code from the Telegram service chat.
  3. Type the code into the app.
  4. Click Verify Code.

The code expires quickly. Have your phone ready before you click Send Login Code and enter the code promptly. If it expires, start the connection again to get a new one.

Step 4: Two-Factor Password (If You Have One)

If your Telegram account has two-step verification enabled, the app asks for your 2FA password after the code. Enter it, then click Verify Password. Your password is used only to complete the secure login and is never stored in readable form.

Once verified, your account shows on the Channels page as Connected. Your Telegram conversations are now accessible through the platform, and an AI Agent assigned to this channel can respond to incoming messages.

Importing Your Existing Chats

If you turned on Import existing chats in Step 2:

  • Only recent private (one-to-one) chats are imported. Group chats are not included, and only a bounded amount of recent history is pulled in per chat.
  • Import runs once, in the background, right after you connect. Larger accounts may take a little while for everything to appear.
  • Imported messages fill out the conversation in Chats, but they don’t count towards your Dashboard numbers or charts. Only what you send and receive after connecting is measured there.

If you connect without importing, new conversations still flow in normally from that point on — only the older history is skipped.

Session Management

Checking Connection Status

Your Telegram connection status is shown on the Telegram card on the Channels page:

Status Meaning
Connected Active and receiving/sending messages
Code sent Waiting for you to enter the login code
Two-factor required Waiting for your two-step verification password
Not connected No active session

Reconnecting

If your session drops, open Settings → Channels → Channels, find the Telegram card, and use its connect/manage action. If the session can’t be restored automatically (for example, you ended it from your phone), you’ll be asked to log in again with a fresh code.

Disconnecting

Open the Telegram card and click Disconnect. This logs the platform out of your Telegram account and cleans up the session. You can also end it from Telegram itself: Settings → Devices → Active Sessions, then terminate the platform’s session.

Staying Safe on Telegram

Because this automates a personal account, protecting it from bans is your responsibility. The platform paces the AI and outbound sends to look natural, but follow these practices:

  • Message warm/existing contacts only. Reply to people who messaged you first or who are saved contacts. Avoid messaging strangers in bulk — that is the fastest way to trigger Telegram’s spam flag.
  • Keep volumes low, especially on a newly connected account. Ramp up slowly over days, not all at once.
  • Avoid sending links to people who don’t know you — link-heavy messages to strangers are a common ban trigger.
  • Let the AI reply at a natural pace. The built-in delays and typing indicator are there to keep the conversation human-like — don’t try to defeat them.
  • Use a real number you control. Disposable / virtual (VoIP — an internet-based phone number, not a physical SIM) numbers are much more likely to be flagged.

Warning. If Telegram flags the account for spam, sending stops until the behavior changes — waiting alone does not clear it. Repeated violations can permanently ban the account and its phone number.

Sending Limits, Warm-up & Follow-up Controls

Telegram uses the same protective send limits, automatic warm-up, and per-account follow-up kill switch as WhatsApp Web. These exist to keep a personal account from looking like a spam farm and getting flagged. On the Channels page, once your Telegram account is connected, you’ll see:

  • A Send Limits & Warm-up card with the same meters as WhatsApp Web — messages sent today, new contacts today, and the current warm-up day.
  • An Automated Follow-ups toggle — it starts on for a newly connected number, so turn it off yourself while the number is still warming up. It stays interactive throughout but shows which warm-up gates (number age, activity ramp, recent contact engagement) haven’t passed yet.

Automatic warm-up (ramp)

A freshly connected Telegram account is intentionally throttled and unlocks more capacity over time. The account earns a “qualifying day” only on days it actually sends at least 75% of its current cap — idle days don’t count, so the account can’t graduate without real, steady usage.

  • Daily message cap = 50 + 8 × (day − 1), capped at 500/day (reached at day 58).
  • Daily new-contact cap = floor((day − 1) × 5 / 6) (rounded down to a whole number), capped at 50/day (reached at day 61).

So on a fresh account you start at 50 messages/day and 0 new contacts/day, climbing to the full ceiling over roughly two months. The Channels page shows the current day, today’s usage against the cap, and how far it has to go.

Tip: If you connect an account that already has months of genuine Telegram history, the ramp panel lets you move the warm-up day forward so the caps lift immediately. Use this honestly — only for accounts that really do have organic history. A brand-new account that skips the warm-up is far more likely to get banned.

Beyond-ramp manual override

Once an account has finished the full 58-day ramp, an optional override lets you push the daily message cap above 500 (from 750 up to 5,000, in 250-message steps). There’s no “safe” published number for Telegram — keep it conservative, watch for spam flags, and back off the moment you see trouble. The override is only available on fully-ramped accounts; a fresh account cannot skip the warm-up this way.

Per-account follow-up kill switch

The Automated Follow-ups toggle controls this account only. When it’s off, no automated follow-ups of any kind go out from that account, regardless of your Broadcast or campaign settings. On a fresh account (under ~30 ramp days), it’s safest to leave follow-ups off and send the initial reply only — follow-ups are what most often tip a low-trust account into the “this is a bot” classification. Flip it back on once the account is warmed up and stable.

When the daily message cap is hit, scheduled follow-ups are automatically pushed to the next day rather than failing.

Media Messages

Incoming photos, documents, and voice notes are pulled into the chat so the AI can understand them (voice notes are transcribed automatically). Outbound AI replies are text only in this version. Long replies are automatically trimmed to Telegram’s 4,096-character limit.

Read Status on Your Phone

When the AI replies to a Telegram chat, or you open that chat in Chats, the chat is marked as read on your own Telegram app too — so your phone’s unread badge stays in sync instead of piling up hundreds of unread chats.

Chats the bot does not answer (for example when it’s off, outside its active hours, or it chose not to reply) are left unread on purpose, so you can still spot and handle them yourself.

Limitations

  • Personal 1-to-1 chats only. Group and channel messages are not handled in this version.
  • No inline buttons. Interactive button menus are not supported.
  • Text-only sending. The AI replies with text; sending media out is planned for a later update.
  • Unofficial integration. It relies on Telegram’s client login and is not endorsed by Telegram; platform changes on their side can affect it.
  • Account risk. Excessive or unsolicited automation can get the account restricted or banned — follow the safety guidance above.

Troubleshooting

Login Code Never Arrives

  • Check the Telegram service chat inside the Telegram app — the code is usually delivered there, not by SMS.
  • Make sure you entered the phone number with the correct country code.
  • Telegram throttles codes for accounts/numbers it considers suspicious. Wait a few minutes and try again.

“Code Expired” or “Invalid Code”

  • The code is only valid briefly. Start the connection again to request a fresh one and enter it promptly.

Asked for a Password Unexpectedly

  • Your account has two-step verification enabled. Enter your Telegram password to finish logging in. If you’ve forgotten it, reset it from Telegram’s Settings → Privacy and Security → Two-Step Verification.

Messages Not Being Sent

  • Verify the connection status shows Connected on the Channels page.
  • Confirm the contact is someone you can message on Telegram.
  • If the account was recently flagged for spam, reduce volume and stick to existing contacts.

Account Logged Out

  • Your session was ended (by you, from another device, or by Telegram). Go to Settings → Channels → Channels, click Disconnect, then log in again.

Best Practices

  • Connect an account that already talks to customers on Telegram, not a brand-new throwaway.
  • Start with low automation volume and increase gradually.
  • Reply to inbound and warm contacts rather than cold-messaging strangers.
  • Keep your account healthy — a real number, normal usage, and conservative pacing dramatically reduce ban risk.
