Writing and Scheduling Posts

This is the part you will use every day. You write the post once, choose where it goes, and choose when.

Write It Once

The big text box at the top is your post. Whatever you type there is what every selected account gets.

Write it the way you would write it for people, not for a network. You can adjust the details per network in the next step if you need to.

Tweaking the Text Per Network

Sometimes one caption does not fit everywhere. A long LinkedIn thought will not fit on Bluesky. A hashtag pile that works on Instagram looks odd on LinkedIn.

Each selected account has its own version of the text. Open it, change what you want, and only that network gets the changed version. Leave it alone and it uses the main caption.

Length limits that actually bite:

Network Roughly how much text fits
Bluesky 300 characters
Threads 500 characters
Instagram 2,200 characters
LinkedIn 3,000 characters
Facebook Long posts are fine
Telegram Long posts are fine

If your caption is longer than one of your selected networks allows, shorten it for that network here. Otherwise the post can go out fine on the roomy networks and fail on the short one. See Post Results.

Adding Images or Video

You can attach either:

  • Up to 10 images, or
  • One video.

Not both in the same post.

Your files are prepared for each network automatically. Every network has its own rules about file type, size and shape, and they disagree with each other. Rather than rejecting your picture, we convert it for each one. Where a network insists on a particular shape, the image is padded to fit rather than cropped, so nothing is silently cut off.

A few things that are worth knowing before you attach anything:

  • Telegram gets text only. Images and video to Telegram channels are not available yet. If a post has media and Telegram is selected, the Telegram channel receives the text on its own.
  • Bluesky takes 4 images at most. If your post has more, Bluesky gets the first four.
  • Instagram video is published as a Reel. Instagram takes a few minutes to process video, so a video post can land slightly after the exact minute you picked.
  • Very large videos are converted first, which takes a little time after you upload. Schedule video posts a bit ahead rather than for one minute from now.

Choosing Where It Goes

Tick the accounts this post should go to. You can pick one, or all of them, or any mix.

Each selected account shows a preview of how the post will look there, so you can spot a caption that got cut short or an image that does not suit that network before anything goes out.

Accounts showing a Reconnect badge need signing in again before they can publish. You can still select them, but that post will not reach them until you reconnect. See Post Results.

Choosing When It Goes

Pick a date and a time. The time is in your own timezone, so 9:00 means 9:00 where you are.

You have three options:

  • Schedule publishes the post at the date and time you picked.
  • Publish now sends it straight away.
  • Save draft keeps it without a time. Nothing goes out until you come back, add a time and schedule it.

Scheduled posts show up in your calendar and in your upcoming list, so you can see at a glance what is going out this week and where the gaps are.

Your computer does not need to be on. Once a post is scheduled it publishes on its own, whether or not you are logged in.

Editing or Cancelling Before It Goes Out

A scheduled post is not locked. Right up until the moment it publishes you can:

  • Change the text, the images, or the accounts. Open the post, edit it, and save.
  • Move it to a different time. Pick a new date and time.
  • Cancel it. The post stops being scheduled. Nothing is sent.

Once a post has gone out it is a real post on those networks, so it can no longer be edited or cancelled from here. To change or remove it at that point, edit or delete it on the network itself.

Editing right on the deadline. If you are editing a post in the same minute it is due to publish, it may already have gone out. Check Post Results to see which it was.

A Simple Way to Work

  1. Write the post in the main box.
  2. Tick the accounts.
  3. Check the previews, and tweak the text for any network where it does not read well.
  4. Attach images or a video if you have them.
  5. Pick a date and time, then Schedule. Or Save draft if it is not ready.

Then leave it. When the time comes it publishes itself, and each account records whether it worked. That is what Post Results is for.
