Connecting Your Social Accounts

Before you can schedule anything, connect the accounts you want to post to. You do this once per account. After that the account stays in your list and you just tick it when you write a post.

Each network works a little differently, so this page covers them one at a time. Read the section for the network you are adding.

Closed beta. The Social Scheduler is only switched on for a small group of accounts right now.

Bluesky

What you need: your Bluesky handle (for example yourbrand.bsky.social) and an app password.

An app password is a separate password Bluesky creates for other apps to use. Never enter your real Bluesky password here.

To get one:

  1. Open Bluesky and go to Settings, then App Passwords.
  2. Create a new app password and give it a name you will recognise, such as Scheduler.
  3. Copy the password Bluesky shows you. It is only shown once.
  4. Back in the Scheduler, add a Bluesky account, paste your handle and the app password, and save.

If you ever want to cut access, delete that app password in Bluesky. Your real password never changes.

Limits worth knowing:

  • Up to 4 images per Bluesky post. If you attach more, the extras are not sent to Bluesky.
  • Bluesky only accepts small image files, so large photos are shrunk automatically before posting. Very large images can lose a little sharpness on Bluesky.
  • Bluesky posts are short. Keep the text around 300 characters.

Telegram

What you need: a Telegram account connected to the app (the same connection used for Telegram chats), and at least one channel that account can post in.

When you add Telegram, you get a list of the channels your connected Telegram account is allowed to post in. Tick the ones you want available in the Scheduler. Each channel becomes its own entry in your account list, so you can post to one channel or several.

If a channel is missing from the list, it usually means the connected Telegram account is not an admin with posting rights in that channel. Fix that in Telegram, then reopen the list.

Telegram is text only for now. Images and video cannot be sent to Telegram channels yet. If a post has pictures or a video attached, Telegram gets the text on its own. This is on our list to fix.

Facebook Pages

What you need: a Facebook account that manages the Page, and admin rights on that Page.

  1. Add a Facebook account in the Scheduler.
  2. Sign in with Facebook when the window opens.
  3. Approve the permissions it asks for.
  4. Pick the Pages you want to post to. Each Page you pick becomes its own entry.

You can connect several Pages at once, and add more later.

Limits worth knowing:

  • You post to Pages, not to your personal Facebook profile. Facebook does not allow other tools to post to personal profiles.
  • If you lose admin rights on a Page, posts to it will stop working until the rights are restored.

Instagram

What you need: an Instagram Business or Creator account that is linked to a Facebook Page you manage.

A personal Instagram account cannot be published to by any scheduling tool, ours included. Instagram simply does not allow it. If yours is personal, switch it to Business or Creator in the Instagram app first (Settings, then Account type and tools), then come back.

  1. Add an Instagram account in the Scheduler.
  2. Sign in with the Facebook account that manages the linked Page.
  3. Approve the permissions.
  4. Pick the Instagram account from the list.

Limits worth knowing:

  • Instagram allows roughly 100 posts a day through connected tools, counted per Instagram account. Normal posting will never come close, but a big bulk schedule can.
  • Instagram is strict about picture shape and file type. Your images are converted and padded automatically so they fit, rather than being cropped without asking you.
  • Videos are published as Reels. Instagram can take a few minutes to process a video, so a video post may show as finished slightly later than a text post scheduled for the same minute.
  • Captions can be up to about 2,200 characters.

Threads

What you need: your Threads account, signed in separately from Facebook.

Threads is its own sign in, even though it belongs to the same company as Facebook and Instagram. Connecting Facebook does not connect Threads, and the other way round.

  1. Add a Threads account in the Scheduler.
  2. Sign in with Threads when the window opens and approve the permissions.

Limits worth knowing:

  • Threads posts are capped at 500 characters.
  • Threads signs apps out periodically. When it does, the account shows a Reconnect badge. Sign in again and it carries on. See Post Results.

LinkedIn

What you need: your LinkedIn account.

  1. Add a LinkedIn account in the Scheduler.
  2. Sign in with LinkedIn and approve the permissions.
  3. Choose whether to post as yourself, and pick any company pages that are offered.

Limits worth knowing:

  • Your own profile always works.
  • Company pages depend on approval. LinkedIn has to approve posting to company pages, and that approval is not in place everywhere yet. If your company pages are not in the list, only your personal profile is available for now.
  • LinkedIn posts can be long, around 3,000 characters.
  • LinkedIn signs apps out from time to time. When it does you get a Reconnect badge on that account.

Managing Connected Accounts

  • Add more any time. You can connect several accounts of the same kind, for example one Facebook Page today and two more next week.
  • Reconnect when asked. If a network signs us out, that account shows a Reconnect badge. Click it, sign in again, and your next post goes through normally. Posts that were already scheduled to that account stay scheduled.
  • Disconnect what you no longer use. Removing an account stops it appearing in the composer. Posts already published stay live on the network. Anything still scheduled to that account will not go out.

Reconnecting is not a sign something is wrong. Most networks sign apps out on a schedule for security. It is normal and takes a few seconds to fix.
